Stelco
Coordination and Detailed Management

In a $7 million project for Stelco, JNE was engaged to perform the engineering services required for the wastewater management and controls program at the steel company’s Coke Ovens and By-Products division. In addition to various work done to the existing site (millwork, ironwork, process piping), the project entailed the construction of a new control building to house the new electrical power and control system, for which our consultants provided the engineering design, drawings and specifications.

The JNE team coordinated and managed most aspects of the project, including cost control, purchasing responsibilities, and the scheduling and supervision of subcontractors. Tasks included the service and maintenance of pumps, tanks, pressure vessels and other forms of equipment, and, in addition to general construction, extensive trench and concrete-slab work was done to allow for rainwater and spillage containment. All of JNE’s work was, and is, done with strict attention to protocols of safety and employee care.
