CanAmera Canola Oil Plant

CanAmera is recognized across North America as a leader in the technology and manufacture of edible oil products, and as a leading marketer of oilseed-based products. The company is Canada's largest processor of edible oil products.

A facility was to be constructed in Oakville, Ontario, using relocated packaging lines and new processing equipment. In addition, the existing facility in nearby Toronto was to be relocated to the new plant.

The project was implemented in two phases. The first phase was to disassemble and relocate four packaging lines from a Procter and Gamble plant in Hamilton, Ontario, to the new facility in Oakville. A new oil handling and finish processing facility was installed to complement the packaging area.

JNE Consulting Ltd. had design engineering responsibility for electrical power and complete mechanical and civil work. This included preparing the construction bid packages, reviewing the bids and construction management.

The second phase began a year later by relocating the existing plant from Toronto. The oil handling and finish processing facility was upgraded to increase the capacity. The warehouse area was added to make Oakville the central warehouse distribution location for CanAmera.
